http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2463/5700487467_316b578abb_z.jpg That's the one you want to slot matey... the inner bit is the bolt part :) You could of course also have at it with the stud extractor too, the outcome should be the same, and if you have stud extractors, that'll probably be a better ...

Re: The Weight Saving thread!

Unfortunately for most, bending lexan requires enough heat to basically melt it, so I doubt a space heater would provide enough localised heat to do the job sufficiently. And heat benders aren't cheap. You could make your own of course and it'd be a fraction of the price, but then there's the risk ...

Re: Apollo HVLP Sprayers ?

Looks quite good :)

Must say I was contemplating having a go myself at hte body work on mine... and that looks to be FAR less faff than compressors and the like. So long as the air pressure was constant I can't see there being an issue personally, but then I'm no semi-professional paint sprayer :D

Re: Project Poppy - 1987 Mk2 GT

It's the ones on the steering column Paul, attached to the bracket nearest where the steering wheel attaches, NOT at the bulkhead.

I personally cut a slot in them with my dremel and screwdrivered them out.

Good to see the correct tools of Maul Grips, Screwdriver and hacksaw to hand. But where's the hammer??? You'd have a full tool set there if that was in shot! :D

Re: The Weight Saving thread!

If you have a full cage, do you really need a full metal floor or could you not remove sections of that and replace with another material? GRP / polycarbonate, etc. For example, under the seats, in the footwell where your feet don't rest. Obviously strengthen where you're taking out. If you were ...

Fair does on poppy mate, but seriously I already have one stripped project on the go and really don't need another one.

Re: We'll See...

seems a shame to scrap it for the sake of a touch of welding, esp if the engine is sweet and as you say yourself the body ain't too bad. Fair does Alex... my intention was to run it as a kinda daily (else I wouldn't have forked out nearly £400 getting it back here last Thursday factoring in petrol, ...

Re: We'll See...

Well jigger me backwards. My mate who owns my local MOT testing station has given me the verdict. We had it over the pit earlier today and it's basically terminal. Outwardly, the car looks sound, however, there is a couple of areas that are basically going to be completely non-cost effective to ...

Re: Project Poppy - 1987 Mk2 GT

You have to take the steering column bracket / pedal box off first Paul, the two bolts sticking through the bulkhead are attached to that. It is a pain, but it will come out.

So... knackered lights have been removed and replaced with some rather better ones (ie ones that work and don't flop about) http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5105/5672103245_3796b99740_b.jpg It's had a quick wash too... really to get the muck off for a better look at the condition of the body work ...

eeeek. Can't help you I'm afraid Paul, none of mine are what one would call "mint". "Shite" would be the best description I could muster. :swoon: The simple solution for the future is to remove that bit of wall, or if that's too much trouble... just move house to prevent it happening again :dunno:
