Was browsing my local diy shop this morning, looking for some 180mm sanding disks and saw these,I have just been quoted £140 to re do my bonnet in matte black, that is with me doing all the prep work, hence the sanding disks.
They say getting a decent finish is down to volume rather than pressure, but just wondering what the more experienced body work peeps think before I jump in and buy one.

Re: Apollo HVLP Sprayers ?
Looks quite good :)
Must say I was contemplating having a go myself at hte body work on mine... and that looks to be FAR less faff than compressors and the like. So long as the air pressure was constant I can't see there being an issue personally, but then I'm no semi-professional paint sprayer :D

Re: Apollo HVLP Sprayers ?
I've seen a lot of good work done with this type of kit. My folks neighbour does work to cars for a living and uses a fuji HVLP and gets a fantatic finish.
Only experience I have myself is using an earlex effort from machine mart.
This sort of thing.
Couldn't get on with it at all. The best I managed was a comedy crazed texture. Unfortunately, that was all over the rear 1/4 and tailgate of my old polo! I'm going to blame poor/weird/incompatable paint, cheap thinners as well as a lack of experience for that...
If you find lots of glowing reviews and want to give it a go, it can be for sale (I'm sure my Dad'd like it out of his garage!)... PM me.

Re: Apollo HVLP Sprayers ?
Really thinking about getting one,I am sure the bloke who came and sprayed the wife's door used something similar, just can't find any reviews ,only need to do my bonnet and 1 door and it's paid for itself.
Want to use water based matte black paint, and obviously you can't lacquer it,not sure how durable that will be ?
Also found a paint supplier, that does some mad mad stuff to add to paint, crystals ,flakes etc etc http://www.thecustompaintshop.com/index ... ct_id=2634
