Re: what security measures do you take

I had someone break the window on my daily and nick the satnav in broad daylight while it was parked on my drive (I was in at the time and never heard them). Now I leave it parked on the road with the doors unlocked and nowt in it. Ignition key on the sunvisor so they don't need to mess up the ...

I'd agree, VWII's are cheap for discs and pads. If you can find a 25% discount code online Pagids add up to £42 from Europarts.

Re: safety testing - the "MoT test"

I was told a couple of days ago about Honda piloting a car with a lock on the bonnet - to which only dealers have a key. Oil and water have filler caps and are the only user-serviceable items. Audi A2's aren't a million miles away from that. If you open the bonnet there's a set of filler caps ...

Re: Dead starter?

The other question is have you had a drop tester on your battery? Showing the voltage and kicking out the current are two different things, and it's the time of year when weak batteries show their colours. If you do find your starter's faulty, it might be worth making enquiries round your local area ...

Re: Syphoning Petrol

I normally stick it in the van a few gallons at a time. :vcool:

Apart from last time I broke a car up at the workshop and I ran out of cans. I was everyone's favourite person that day cause I was running round giving petrol away

The tools came with the car, 10/13mm spanner and a double ended screwdriver. It's amazing how much of the car you can take apart with them.

That's another reason to go to Euro over GSF. Euro stock Continental belts, the last one I had from GSF was a Gayco or something.

Just knock the wedge straight upwards. Give the drum a whack with the mallet to return the shoes, then carry on bleeding it.

Re: poop brakes - help

If it's got drums on the back, try tapping the adjuster wedges in the back wheels back up and start again. You can normally do this through one of the holes in the drum if you don't fancy taking the drums off. I had to knock them up about 3 times when I bled my polo because they weren't letting the ...

Re: lower alternator bolt

I've been having the same problem with the Fix Or Repair Daily. I put it down to the thread the bolt goes into being worn and slack. I've fitted slightly longer bolts so there's some exposed thread at the end and stuck a washer and a nylock on the end of each bolt - it seems to be working :beg:

Re: radio and heater only work when i hold the headlight flasher

Heater and radio are fused together, so check your fuses to start with.

As for the flash, I'd assume there's just some path between the circuits that gets made by the headlamp flash.
