lower alternator bolt

Post by wella87 »

So for the second time my cars starting sqeeeling and the problems been the lower alternator bolt dropping out again.. first time i was lucky enough to have a spare donated, and made sure it was in tight and even put threadlock on, so cant understand how ive lost another one, but it appears these bolts are well hard to find so would anyone know the best place to source one from?

I've been having the same problem with the Fix Or Repair Daily. I put it down to the thread the bolt goes into being worn and slack. I've fitted slightly longer bolts so there's some exposed thread at the end and stuck a washer and a nylock on the end of each bolt - it seems to be working :beg:

mine fell out on the A30 the other day...just wacked a threaded bar and a few nuts locked together to hold it in place. forgott about it till now actually, but seems to be holding up well and havent lost any tension yet. cant see me changing it any time soon either.

Go to any good hardware store and ask for one M8X95 bolt, with hex. socket head. Plus one M8 nut or nyloc nut.
I have used a 1990 scirocco to get this info, if your car is NOT a 1990 PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK FOR YOUR YEAR.
