non rocco but vw

Post by monzajake »

I have posted this up on edition but im wondering if anyone on here has ever had this..

Ive been offered a mk3 19tdi estate for dirt cheap money.
The main problem is you cant get it in to 5th at all. All the other gears are fine
Everything seems to be doing what its ment to but it seems like the gear lever isnt going over far enough to allow 5th. Theres no crunching or anything just seems like 5th isnt there at all..
The gear box is a cable change engine is a 1.9 tdi.

Anyone got any pointers to what it could be.

I thank you muchly people

Sounds like the cables are out of adjustment to me.

When I removed my gear lever to refurbish all the linkages I had to play around with it when I re-fitted it as I had problems getting first gear.
This could be the same or something more serious ????????????

I've had this on my Corrado.
Get someone to waggle the gear lever side to side so that you can see which of the cables moves. I can't remember whether the cable pushes or pulls for 5th gear engagement, but you can work this out with your assistant. Then adjust accordingly.
