Hi Chaps
This is my French GT which did have an 1100 golf engine in it when I picked it up in Toulouse back in 2008. I drove it back from France and realised that the old unit had seen better days and was beyond repairing, 900 miles with paper tissue stuffed in my ears when ever I had to get it ...

Re: Ian Croucher - ianaudia4
Very sad to hear about Ian
He helped me numerous times and I met him in Chester Le Street a few years ago when he showed me his MKII Storm of which he was very proud. My interactions with Ian showed him to be a real gentleman with a keen love for VWs of all shapes and sizes, but especially ...

Weber carb 32/34
:hi: Hi Guys
I need your help on something...I used to own a scirocco MK1 back in 1984-5 and had problems with the old Pierburg carb. I replaced it back then with a weber and from memory the difference was great. I now run a 1781 Gt II and although the original carb is ok it does not exactly pull ...

Re: Stainless fuel filler necks
:hi: Plastic would be better and cheaper, also better if the car is fuel injected, no more woes of crap in the fuel cocking up all those sensitive components in the metering heads. Also Ford XR3is were fitted with them and did not have half the issues that VW had using metal pipes.

Re: came across this example.
:hi: Hi Ben
You should give this a go provided the underside is free of rust in the obvious areas like suspension points and sills, etc. The car looks good and the mileage if accurate is good for a car that age. As for the elements get yourself a cheapish car cover from Halfords or equivalent ...

Re: Re noisy speedo head
:hi: Hi Nate
No I have not tried that. I think the speedo is fairly accurate. It is a vibrating sound at approx 70-80 and then above 80 disappears, as well as below 70. Really annoying as the rest of the car is sound. I think it may be time for the instrument panel to come out and a look at the ...

Re noisy speedo head
:hi: Hi can anyone help with this problem?
I have a J reg GtII that has done 127,000 miles. There is a noise from behind the dash when the car gets up to 75 mph and 80 mph. It sounds like it is coming from the back of the rev counter or speedometer. The sound disappears below 75 mph and also ...

Re: HELP WATER COMING IN
:hi: Hi
I have had a similar problem with my GT11 in the last few weeks, it looks like it might have been caused by a cracked plastic scuttle cover allowing water to accumulate near the heater blower/matrix. So I am going to seal the surround for the matrix and then start checking the screen area ...

Re: Need Fuel pump, accumulator and brackets
:hi: Hi
I bought an accumulator from GSF last week, a brand new bosch unit from their Sheffield branch, it is listed under the MK1 golf supplies and is identical to the unit for the scirocco. The support is more complex, you need to get one from an old golf, again identical to the scirocco mount ...

Re Kjet woes
:dunno: Hi guys
Can anyone shed any light on what is likely to be a familiar problem for storm or gti/gli owners. Here goes. I have a 1981 storm with engine code EG. Bought the car two years ago and have had problems getting it tuned. The car came with the original engine on 130,000 miles and one ...
