Forum flaky / slow this week ? (date = 23-Nov-2011)

Is it just me ?

Seem to be getting a lot of "time outs" and "Cannot contact server" errors.

Other forums I use seem ok by the way.

Ditto. Today is especially bad.

The 'management' are aware and have been looking into it. Seems another client using the same server caused the initial problems, which had the effect of blocking site access by a number of IP addresses. Not sure though where they are at with finding a solution or if today's problems are linked.

I have had the same as above verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy slow or timed out.

I'm afraid so Ant, at least as far as I'm concerned. Spend as much time waiting for pages to load as I do reading threads of late ... or at least that's how it seems.

I guess like most problems the more resources/money you have to throw at it the more likely you are to solve it, which makes me wonder how many people that are forum members are actually paid up?

I know money's tight for everyone and I'm not looking to create any divisions, but maybe if more folks opted to take out a subscription then I guess you the 'management' might be able to solve a lot of the technical glitches that spring up from time to time.

Even if the money didn't help in this particular instance I'm sure a few more subscriptions would be most welcome. So look on this next image as being the online equivalent of me shaking a Forum collection tin …



With 2011 drawing to a close and the enrolment year being from 1st February to 31st January each year, maybe anyone reading this who isn't paid up might like to think about making it their first New Year resolution?

Still not 100%.
Just after posting a reply and it took ages to send.

As far as subscriptions go I have been trying for over a fortnight to pay mine.
I have tried to contact the proper authorities as per instructions and I'm still no further forward.

I have used the contact email address and have had no reply regarding the form.

I will now probably wait til the start of the enrollment year as this is only a few weeks away and re-apply then.

I'm always punting the full paid up member status, can save £15 on one purchase at GSF!

More paid up members means more "Scirocco Register" banners/flags on the show scene.

Hi Cpt,
Could you clarify something for me please ?
Do the subscriptions run from a certain date each year OR for a year from the date you join ?????
I've had a rummage through the sciroccoregisterforum.co.uk site but can't find any info on this.
I have double double checked that I have the right contact address and all appears to be ok.
The thing about the dates was

from 1st February to 31st January each year,

it's got me a bit confused (easily done at my age, must more).
I suspect it is a typo error.

Not a typo error at all - the membership year runs 1st Feb to the following January 31st. i.e. renewal is done every January.

You should have had an email with a form, i sent a batch recently. I will resend them, i'm not convinced that the email was playing ball either due to the problems that we have lately.
