History Rocco 'Gale'
I've always like the Scirocco, and remember seeing one parked across the road on the drive. I remember it being a grey GT and not driven very often by the lady that owned it. Since then, I've always liked them, but never thought I'd own one.

Which alternator do I need?
I need a new/used alternator but unsure which one i need,they do several types
45, 55, 65 and 90 amp
Can any shed any light.
Its for a 1990 1.8 GTii ex engine code.
The one I replaced has no markings on it and didn't keep the old Bosch alternator (
)

cheers for that advice.......will se how it runs for next 30 miles......and then make a decision.

hi mate,
paid approx £30 plus got 1 litre free for topping up...so failry good deal considering what i could have paid
just attempted the aerial - not going well, top screw on aerial not undoing and twisted and broke rubber :( stopped there and put wheel back on and walked away not very happy ...

Following advice from good friends, went to VW dealer rather ha-fr**ds and bought myself all the bits to give "G-ale" a full service (easy). (yes the car has a name now - everyone else has one and felt it time).

when mine was fitted the distributor had to be turned a bit.....might be worth think about? Timing etc...no mechanic but that was at sanspeed and this guy was pretty clued up.....

I have a buzzing noise from the dash and a flashing oil light. :crying:
I have added some gauges to the car and used some second hand sensors. One is for the oil pressure, and the other oil temperature. When these are unplugged the buzzing and flashing still occurs on the dash.

Had the same problem a month or two now. Resolved the problem after doing the following jobs one by one to resolve until finally I bought a new rad.....
