Annoying twitch gone !!

Post by MrD »

Have fitted my rear brace, and must say i am rather surprised at the difference it has made,it`s sort of lost the little twitch it had when cornering hard, been out for a blast this arvo,in the wet and tried my hardest to get the backend out, wasn`t having any though !

Bought the rear strut top brace from the guys I posted linke for earler. Fitted fine, (hope Pic uploads)

However bought a MK1 Golf GTI front upper which has no chance of fitting.....so still no front upper. :ire:

Can anyone reccomend a nice chrome front upper please, want it to be functional but also look good......cheers

Is it worth investing in strut braces? I have never driven a car with them on before. Can you tell the diffrence?

Take you out for a blast if you like, honestly i think the car would go round corners quicker than i dare take it,and i drive like i have stolen it .my only problem is hitting bumps in the road,it`s very very bouncy, pot holes galore too, which is not good, can`t wait tio get it out on the track ,so i can see what it`s really like.

It is definitely worth investing. I fitted all three and noticed slight improvements in handling with each one. Corners like it's on rails now (or it did until the suspension started showing its age - soon to be sorted). I reckon you should spend up to £30 per brace, although I've never experienced a car with expensive bracing. You can pay £200 for a Neuspeed one. Can they really be that much better? I've got a 16v K brace on the front lower and some shiny german adjustables for the upper (visible) ones. Got a bit of a bargain on those though I think. All 3 were second hand. I've still got a spare front upper if anyone wants to buy it. Not nice shiny silver though, just painted, but it's made to fit under the bonnet and even accomodate whatever carb and filter combo you might have or not have.

That for the rear?
I don't think I paid £200 for my front pair from C&R...

It's a front upper 4 point one. I think it's fromt upper anyway. It's adjustable too if i remember right. So you've got the more pricey stuff have you? How does it compare to the cheap stuff? Is it 3 to 4 times as good?

If i get this current roc to handle anywhere near as good as the mk1 gti i had i will be very happy, but i think the only way i will acheive that is by taking off the red Koni`s and buying the expensive yellow ones .Didn`t have to reduce spped at all for the corners in that, sure it would have gone round them quicker than i dare take them too.
