History Rocco 'Gale'

Post by RoccoGTII »

I've always like the Scirocco, and remember seeing one parked across the road on the drive. I remember it being a grey GT and not driven very often by the lady that owned it. Since then, I've always liked them, but never thought I'd own one.

I passed my test and bought a VW Polo couple Mk2 C reg (white with privacy windows and white alloys). I'd buy another if I had the chance as it was so fun to drive. then bought a Escort Ghia b reg car. Decided. Another great car. I then saw GALE and owned her since 1998 and bought her for £3,000.00. yes only three cars have ever been registered to me. However, i driven plenty and no other car provides as much fun the Rocco. They all feel really plastic and you just can't feel what is happening when your driving.

From early on, the only part of the car I updated were the alloy wheels until four years ago when I bought the Jetex exhaust; Weber carbs; dials for inside the car; leather steering wheel (not from Ianaudi!) and changing the look of the front. yep, the car is pretty standard and I've no desire to change it any way. The car could be turned back to standard at any time as all the original parts have been kept.

The interior is a clean as the day when I first bought the car. I've always taken pride to keep the car clean inside and out. Being red, its always been imported to polish it and keep it red!! Only in the last 8 years has it been stored inside, and this has helped keep it Red.

The car has a full service history meaning it has dealer history stamps, and all receipts since I've owned her. I serve her myself every year and don't scrimp on the oil.

The last big drive she had was last year in the Isle Of Wight. She was great fun to drive and handled those bumpy roads really well - pretty good for 110,000 mile car. This year she has been driven twice, once to get her MoT'd and the other to give her a run for 10 miles. The baby has been a great distraction :good:

So what next.....1) well I want to bring her to another meet sometime soon...2) I'd love to give her some new boots i.e. Ronal similar to the bbs; 3) I'd like to clean up the engine bay; and 4) keep the car on the road for as long as possible so my son can enjoy it too. Absolutely no desire to sell the car at all.

Bye for now... :bye:
