guy in the lockups behind me does audis and has all the diagnostic bits.. just hoping the info i have via google is correct to wire the socket in...

yup... all cool. i topped it up with a can of fresh. I replaced the fuel pump a while back as it siezed. and had it running since then.

Hi all the VR6 has been archived for years - on the hope of beter times i can afford to run it - but every so often i pop up and run it. anyhow i went up the other month - didnt start it - but did a bit of welding ( i had the battery off) before i went i went to fire it up and it just turned over ...

thanks all... some excellent pointers here that will be useful to lots of folk i guess,,it is as you say having rebuilt cars over the years.. a minefield. I too have used lots of products to varying success - I can vouch for rustoleum paint... does everything that hammerite promises to do and doesnt ...

deffo the 4 + e then... i seem to remember its near enuf the same ( but i am sure that an anorak on here will be able to tell you exactly) apart from the 5th ' economy gear. designed for exactly what you want. change the gearbox for a GTL 4 + E type one... it'll be a lot easier

thats what he was gonna do, but i said the same thing too him, plus he didnt pickup on some stuff he shoulda done, so its swings and roundabouts. :-)
told him to fit it - MOT it - Take it off - and sell it straight away, might only lose a few bob. :-)

he had too buy a direct replacement from G&S in the end for over 100 squid.
MOT man was adamant - it was on there from manufacturer it had too be there mot.
once mot is thru tho - he's gonna get rid as most caddy blokes have as its not required not being a load carrying vehicle... :-)

Hi all. a friend has a caddy that is modded, he just put it into MOT and it failed - one of the things was the rear brake bias adjuster on the rear suspension - you know the one that changes the pressure to the rears dependant on how low the car is i.e. how much weight it has in it.
