Well over the last few days I’ve tackled the outer plastic wheel trims, first with some plastic primer-



Then with 2 coats of high build primer-



Then 4 coats of silver-







Once the centre caps were cleaned up the silver match was pretty much bang on-

Oh and how they will look, will be leaving fitting to the car till weekend to give the paint as much time to harden as possible-



Must admit I’m really pleased, you can still see some of the deeper scratched in the outer trims but compared to how they looked when I got them, there so much better :)

Well there on :)

Even had some help from the otherhalf with some tricky painting of the VW logo. Very happy with them, had a few tweaks of the camber but all feels good :)






Right just need to get the car cleaned for VWNW on Sunday





Oh and as a result my original 5 spokes will be up for sale, see the for sale section from lunchtime today :)

Well they're looking fantastic! Glad they went to a good home! The key to a good finish (pardon the pun!) is all in the prep and it looks like there was a whole heap of elbow grease aimed at these!

Finally got round to fitting my satin black wind deflector, its been hung up in the shed for months!!!! Damn this weather lol





Also following a comment I had about the new wheels, I finally got round to start the painting of the G60 centre caps. One has a crack in it so a little glue was all that was needed.







Next they had a good old clean



Before a coat of plastic primer, then there was followed by 4ish coats of satin black.

I’ll be painting the VW in silver to match the wheel trims over the next week :)

if there fitted before the MOT, then I;ll get my mate to get the tracking done when its in for the MOT with the heigt wound up, then as you said get if down when i get it back ;)

get it tracked when you figure how high you want the car... by raising and lowering you knock the tracking out quite abit...
SLAM IT mate... would look as rude as a used amsterdam ho!

well the roccos got an MOT and the suspensions all fitted, even got it over to National Tyres for tracking this morning (currently offering 50% off so it works out at £15, bargain) i asked how far out was it, guy said lots 18!!!! i assum thats degrees!!!! any how drive much better, got it home and noticed the cambers were shocking







so adjusted about 10mm out of them and they still lean in!!! now drives even better. Its currently got about a 50mm drop front and back (although i would be interested in what the hight of the arches are on a standard car of someone cold measure), will leave the springs to settle for a few weeks then drop it again then get it back for tracking again :)

Ride is so much better, the rear is solid and is getting some getting used to and the front just seems so much more shore footed.

when the car was with a mate he mentioned i needed a few new things :( crap guards on one wheel needed removing it was that far gone and the other side is on its way out as well



other thing he mentioned were the camber bolts or rather the camber washers had worn and were no longer locking to the bolts so werent spining in line with the bolt head. VW Heritage and Crazy Quiffs both want £22 per side for 2 bolts and 2 washers!!!!!!!

Well my plan today was to do 2 jobs, lower the car alittle and fit new crap guards as one has fallem off the other is not far behind.

So the lowering was made much easier following the purchase of these beauties-



was strange that on the rear an nearly 50mm drop in the spring position only resulted in a 25mm drop in the car, i expect that its to do with the damper compensating for the rest. As i said the rear was dropped a further 25mm or so, so that should make 65 over standard, and the front was dropped a futherr 10mm, taking it to about 50mm over all. I'll probably lower it all again as some point.

as for the crap guards, i got these off Ebay for about £35 for the pair and they seen quiet good quality. However to prolong their life i decided to give them a coat of stonechip.

so it was a damn good cleaning-



dont worry the otherhalf was at work and will never know ;)

then 3 liberal coats was applied-



however my efforts to fit them were scuppered when i struggled to undo the bolts!!!! expect a question in the relevent section on this lol

heres the remaining one, i had to do some delicate manipulating to stop of catching!!!

well not done much over winter apart from getting the tracking and cambers sorted a few months ago, i actually have some weight in my steering now!!!!

still havent sorted out firring the brake crap guards, although i;ve just got some elongated sockets which fingers crossed will fit through the wheel bolt holes as they line up with the crap guard ones, I'll keep you all informed on progress!!!!

the only real big thing I;ve done is put back on my Ronal 5 spokes, i wanted to test to see if they were still running following the change in suspension to coilies and a propercamber set up. As you may know i have different profile tyre fitted, lower ones on the fron originally (with the added issue of my speedo being wrong!!!). So i started out by fitting the original rear ones to the front and taking it out for a proper test, including some uneven roads (lots near me) and a few roundabouts to get the car turning and leaning. Well not good, straight out and the running sound from a dip, but after that all seen good until the final 360 roundabout run and yes some rubbing, not a lot but enough.

so it was back home and a change to the lower profile one (approx 10mm more clearance) went out and nothing yeah. So the plan is not to do a DIY refurb on these and replace all the rubber. As it turns out a set of 4 of the lower profiles ones is only £151 delivered compared to just over £200 for th others so another bonus. At this rate i should have them re-shod and refurbed for about £200 :)

any how, after another 18months in the garden you can see they'll need some work-



but with an offsett of 25, they fill the arched so much better ;)





so over the next month or so I;ll be getting these sorted, all i know is they'll be a very light silver, still not sure about doing the recesses in satin black though hmmmm
