Major headlight switch issues.

The dash illumination in my 'rocco hasn't been working for ages, it ceased functioning a few months ago after I blew a fuse whilst changing the cigarette lighter socket. I've changed the fuse since. Felt a click in the dimmer switch around the same time.

I changed the bulbs in the instrument ...

Re: actual vs mfa mpg

I don't have an MFA but my 1.6 gt averages about 31.5mpg based on noting down mileage/petrol put in. Best I've ever had is 36.5 and that was changing up at 2200revs every time etc etc

Dash/instrument illumination

Changed the cigarette lighter a short while ago, but managed to blow the fuse in the process of putting it back in, and now the green dash/instrument illumination doesn't work. Is it likely to be that bulbs have blown along with the fuse? Looks pretty easy to replace them if it is, going by the ...

Coolant hose

Soo, upon investigating a small but persistent coolant leak it turns out almost all the coolant hoses in the engine bay are leaking from the clip area.

Already had a couple of new hoses knocking about as I've meant to replace one for a while...figured I might as well change the lot rather than ...

Just a quick one...(window winders)

They're the same fitment as air cooled stuff right? Need some replacements as I managed to snap the end of mine off...gonna blame the recent temperatures for that one.

Re: Fitting strut brace

Yeah I wanted it done quick cos I was driving through wales that weekend so gave it to the garage opposite work and they fitted it for a tenner in the end, holes needed a bit of adjustment with their grinder so it's a good job I did! Would have taken forever to do myself without air tools.

It's ...

What benefits do you get from a catch tank in terms of actual driving/running?

Re: Fitting strut brace

Aye sorry should have said, it's a lower. Have read somewhere else that you're supposed to put the wheels back on the ground and let it settle before you tighten the bolts up too so I'll do that, fun times! And hopefully very fun times on the way to Borth on sunday haha

Also massive noob question ...

Fitting strut brace

Sooo my omp brace turned up today...really want to fit it tonight/tomorrow afternoon before heading off through Wales either tomorrow or sunday.

It should be a quick easy job right, have other people found this to actually be the case or is stuff likely to be seized/shear/whatever, I'd normally ...

Re: Fuel economy

cos it was a daily and couldn't rag it on the way to work in traffic!

That's what most of my driving is like, hence thinking I should be getting more mpg haha, I do like to put my foot down sometimes but the vast majority of the time it's just cruising at somewhere between 55 and 30 depending on ...

Fuel economy

I'm averaging about 32 - 35mpg/300 - 330 miles a tank (from full to the tip of the red zone) from my 1.6GT, which is totally standard apart from a weber carb that was fitted back when the car wasn't old and a powerflow exhaust the previous owner had made to almost match the original.

Am I ...

Re: Probably get this a lot (lowering related question)

Grand, found some stuff on vw vortex with pictures of how the K bar ones fit too so it all makes sense now, thanks again.

Last question (on this subject anyway haha)...I can find plenty of lowering spring kits using google but it's not so forthcoming with shocks. Would rather get a full kit ...

Re: Probably get this a lot (lowering related question)

Really useful replies here, thanks again!

On a slightly different tack now...what's the difference between: this strut brace of the lower front variety and this one (the omp one mentioned?) and this one .

Because they all claim to be the same thing? (I think)...but look different.

This may be a ...
