Seat tilt cable fitting

Can anyone remember the link to the tutorial on how to fit new front seat tilt mechanism cables?

Re: Rear Wiper MK2

Always worth checking the nut securing the wiper arm to the motor spindle is tight.

Mine didn't work for years and that was all it turned out to be.

Re: Indicators

The flasher unit needs to be matched to the number of indicators in the circuit, if you remove the side repeaters it's exactly the same as if the bulbs had blown, so you need the flasher from a non-repeater car.

Re: Rear wiper not working

I found on mine that it was simply a case of the nut holding the wiper arm to the motor spindle not being tight enough, tightened it and it worked fine.

Re: Paint code information

If you have the original owner's handbook, it's also on a sticker inside the front cover.

Re: Mk2 Storm in scrappers. Anyone for a project?

Looking at Dr Dub's site, could it be that 'gunmetal' is actually the Havana Brown? It looks pretty grey in the first photo...

Re: Pierburg strip down, probs found

Inside the autochoke is a bi-metal coil of flat section which operates the choke lever. This coil is heated not only by the coolant (which flows around the housing but doesn't enter the part where the coil is) but also by a small spring-like electric element on the inside (dry side) of the housing, ...

Re: Pierburg butchery

Yes, I think you're right, though I can't see how it would affect the idle on either my original or the donor carb I'm using for reference, in both cases the throttle plate lever is several mm away from the 3/4 unit plunger and since the latter can only retract I don't see what influence it could ha...

Pierburg butchery

I know a lot of people are suspicious of the Pierburg, and a lot of people will botch things to keep a car going, but this really puzzled me, I'm the third owner of my 1985 GTL, I've had it for about 13 years and as far as I was aware it hadn't been molested. When taking my carb apart to get to the ...

Re: Rubber or cork rocker cover gasket?

Interesting, I've only ever bought it in metal tubs eg Carlube LM2 Multipurpose, didn't realise it came in cartridges. Maybe LM2 not up to the job (of wheel bearings) if it's multipurpose? Says high melting point and suitable for wheel bearings though...

Re: upgrading front discs

There's an electrolytic method of de-rusting metal, using a battery charger (old school non automatic variety) and some common or garden variety of chemical the name of which eludes me at present. I did this a few years ago on mine and the results were astonishing, sadly, because I mis-adjusted the ...

Re: Rubber or cork rocker cover gasket?

When you say 'wheel bearing grease' is that some specific type? I ask because i've always used lithium grease for wheel bearings because that's what the manuals usually say.

Or you can use something like Microsoft Paint (if you're on a Windows machine) to reduce the size of the pics.
