Rejetting?

It has come to my attention that I'm running the wrong carb. It's the replacement Weber, but it's apparently jetted for an 1.8 and I'm running it on my 1.6.
Is it possible to rejet & if so, what size do I need & where do I get them from?

Thanks in anticipation.

Re: Gearbox linkage sloppy and woeful brakes

Sorted - a humungous two spline adjustment and we are back in the game with a shift that is slicker than Gary Glitters hair.
Thanks for all your help and advise.

Re: Gearbox linkage sloppy and woeful brakes

Man with spanners has revised his opinion and will be dismantling and rebuilding the linkage on Monday....
Watch this space for exciting updates.

Re: Gearbox linkage sloppy and woeful brakes

The brake prob isn't mine, I just hiJacked a thread rather than start another.
Thanks for all your ideas and help, I have passed it to my man with spanners who sadly has diagnosed a broken, cracked or otherwise damaged baulk ring. Bum hats.
Anyone have a 4+E available to collect sharpish?

Re: Gearbox linkage sloppy and woeful brakes

Any idea how to adjust out a relunctance to select first?
All the others are fine, but first appears to have moved to the left a bit and I keep trying to set off in third!

Re: How do you get 17" alloys to fit???

I agree, it just looks silly.
Was the steering heavy?
I don't get twatty big wheels and rubber band tyres at all, better on newstuffstraight from the factory but on a twenty five year old Scirocco,kt just looks like someone wants to be Carlos Fandango!

Re: There's a bloke down the pub...

Just so happens I have a 1.6 GT with a 1.8 GTI cam. It's good for about 110 downhill with the wind behind it. Can I ask you whether you're happy with the change? Is it as driveable, as relaxed, as torquey, as economical? Or have you turned it into a peaky, revvy little blighter Where all the gear r...

There's a bloke down the pub...

...who owns a mk 2 Golf with the same 75hp 1600 engine and 4+E gearbox as my Scirocco GT. However, he claims that it will do 130mph and 'still pulling like a train' Yet all he's done is to fit 'the cam from a Gti' I assume that this is the fellow from an 1800 injection. But is he talking from betwee...

Re: 1.6 Exhaust replacement.

You'll like this... Phoned Qwikfit just out of curiosity. Although they don't keep them in stock, they can get them... Apparently if I just turn up and leave a deposit, The tailpipe/back box assembly I require will be there, the very next day fitted for just £111. How many do you think I should order?

Fuel consumption for Anoraks!

Asking around folk who have similar cars, I have heard, 'Oh, I get between about 40 & 45 mpg'. I can't get anything like that. Over the last year my 1.6GT has averaged about 36. I tried to improve things by running on ultimate from August, but it then dropped to about 34. http://i1068.photobucke...

Re: 1.6 Exhaust replacement.

Many thanks for all your responses.

Centre section sorted, what do you all recommend for a tail pipe then?
Does it have to be a big bore Barry special?

1.6 Exhaust replacement.

The exhaust on my 1.6GT appears to be nearing the end of its usefull working life. Is it a question of nipping into Quik Fit or will it be more fun than that? Euro Car Parts appear to list a centre box & I'm not really keen to 'Barry' it with some kind of dustbin bore performance system, but any...

Re: Cheapest wheel re-furb!

I'm dragging this back to the top because to someone, this must be blindingly obvious.

Is it as simple as nipping to Halfords & asking for VW wheel paint?
Or is it as hard as 'match up my Pee slots please Vicar'.
