Great work, don't suppose you would be able to lighten another ABF flywheel.

Rob
Can you take a photo of the broken bits I have just rebuilt my roof most of the parts are available from Germany.
Macc the Scirocco Haynes manual gives a good write up on the roof.

Re: Leak after fitting new filler neck
Hi Mark
The problem with worm screw jubilee type clamps they never equally compress the hose your clamping on especially thin steel.
I take it that's the type you are using if so.
What I would use is either wire or the band type that have a proper nut and bolt they compress equally around the hose ...

Re: Leak after fitting new filler neck
Hi
The filler neck although metal is quite flimsy and easy to distort if you over tighten the jubilee clips. A better idea would be to use the metal wire type not jubilee clips.
Was the rubber connecting pipe a genuine part as I have had 2 off ebay and one was a nice tight fit the over was lose ...

I never got to meet Ian,

Re: Fuel Tank Pipe Bore Size
Hi Mark
If you are considering making the filler pipe then I recon it may be worth looking into using 1 5/8 pipe which is 41.27mm diameter for the lower 45 90 45 degree sections. then adaptor to 57mm for the filler neck with a 16mm diameter tube just bellow the neck.
I made mine out of 38mm but the ...

Re: Fuel Tank Pipe Bore Size
Tank inlet is
internal 38.66mm
External 40.20mm
Flange 42.10mm
The lower section of the fuel filler pipe is the same diameter of the tank inlet.
I have found you can use 38mm stainless exhaust pipe the link hose will grip the pipe but it is worth while running a step weld around the edge of the ...

Re: Rear Brakes stripdown - worth replacing drums?
Hi
The outer bearings are easily to change with a drift and I wouldn't bother putting them in the freezer.
But if you have trouble with them and can get to Basingstoke I have a hydraulic press at work and could do them one day in the week if you wanted to collect in the evening.

Re: Manual Choke 'Pulling(?)' Itself Back In
Check the vacuum linkage to choke Flap stop it may be a case the stop screw has gone out of adjustment so when you accelerate the vacuum is opening the flap more than 3.5mm or the stop screw between throttle lever and choke cam is out of adjustment.

If you don't want to use syntax silver any VW 501 01, VW 505 00 approved 10W 40 semi synthetic don't bother using a fully synthetic 5w 30 oil it will probably leak more, burn off quicker and run a lot noisier.

Re: Ducellier distributor
Hi Jake,
It is a Bosch dizzy also there is a module under the plastic scuttle which may be different to the ducellier it was a bit to dark tonight to trace the cables further.
The one way valve on mine used to leak and I may still need the pipe but we can discuss that on the day.
Also I have a brand ...
