Re: Help - does this sound terminal?
Many thanks guys - discovered I still had RAC cover from home, so called them out. Got it started - he is sure headgasket too - the 'clunking' seems to have been caused by water leaking into places it shouldn't do and feezing...makes sense as he squeezed a few pipes and then the clunking changed to ...

Help - does this sound terminal?
Last week or so bit of white smoke...but was told this could be normal in cold weather. Yesterday drove home, then tried to start few hours later, a couple of 'clunks' then nothing. Tried again today - 'clunks' - nothing else. Not battery - replaced couple months ago. Could it be starter motor ...

Not v experienced when it comes to things like that...only got a shared gravel courtyard as potential workspace too at moment so tend to go for the easy option!

Which starter motor?
Starter motor on way out - had to call RAC today as wasn't starting, but managed to get going with a firm tap from a metal pole... Anyway, going to get a replacement probably from GSF or somewhere- the guy from RAC said there are 2 types - shielded / unshielded if I remember correctly...just ...

Repairing behind bodykit - West Mids based
Was parking the car today on side of a country road when caught some concrete buried under pile of leaves. Half took off the bodykit from drivers side front wing. Don't think was that tightly glued anymore and also ripped out couple of the screw holes (although they might have already been out ...

Re: Replacing sunroof seal
Thanks will try that - guess I'd better look at rear drain pipes as well...I'd thought that the seal had something to do with water as it let some in when under pressure (carwash) but has never leaked otherwise. Oh well, at least it looks a lot neater now too!

Replacing sunroof seal
Decided it was time to replace as went through a car wash on Monday and got rather wet! (Hadn't leaked a drop with all the heavy rain though...) Have the replacement seal - had a quick go last night but looks like I will have to remove whole sunroof panel. Has anyone managed to change it without ...

Re: Suspension MOT 'safe'?
Ah that's what I was thinking about I think so hopefully should be ok as haven't done that. Thanks for all the advice / replies.Nate wrote:most problems with springs not seating correctly that i've come accross have been from people using short springs over standard length shocks

Re: Suspension MOT 'safe'?
Hi thanks for the replies - didn't mean safe in terms of passing MOT though; more in terms of the springs not unseating when it's lowered off the ramp again (as some other sets come with helper springs). Is this a possibility with coilovers such as the ones I've got - excuse my ignorance!
Cheers,
Dan

Suspension MOT 'safe'?
Have seen people refer to their suspension (usually when for sale) as being MOT test 'safe', meaning I think that there'll be no probs with raising / lowering car. How do you know if that is the case? Have the ebay 'Hottuning' coilovers fitted - any idea if these are 'safe' or not? Cheers...car is ...
