Re: Replacing the LCD Clock in a Mk2

OOh... I haven't been here for a while (since I sold my Mk1!) Seems we've been unknowingly supplying these to a few Mk2 Scirocco owners who have been using this excellent guide to fitting. We have a fitting guide but it's transporter specific, LCD panel is the same though! https://www.brickwerks.co ...

Re: mk1 mirrors

Something isnt right inside my offside mirror as the up/down adjustment doesnt work. mirror moves but just springs back to face the floor...

I remember seeing something in the Bentley manual about the 2 holes in the bottom, but cant remember what

Re: mk1 mirrors

I have a pair of mirrors. Passenger i was going to fit but cant bring myself to cut the holes in the door, and a NOS VW drivers side, which i was going to fit in place of mine, but not sure I can be bothered stripping the door to fit a mirror that looks pretty much exactly the same :D I have to ...

Re: DX TTS..

VW number is 043906163A Bosch number is 0 280 130 214 there was a VDO alternative (also no longer available) i can get the number ...

Re: 4 speed to 5 speed

The cover plate (the but that creates the reverse lockout) is a different part. Giving you more side to side range on the lever. I only discovered this recently and ive been running my ex 4 speed around with the naff gearchange since I swapped it years ago! VW Part number is 171711261C Obsolete from ...

Re: Mk1 RHD Speedo Cable?

Just for future reference... there doesnt seem to be an off the shelf Mk1 Speedo cable. Speedycables can make one, but they cannot source the gearbox end. So... I Supplied them with a GEMO Mk2 Scirocco cable and they shortened it and fitted a new speedo end. Gemo made the cables for VW and you can ...

Re: Mk1 bumper colour

VW listed 2 different parts for the plastic front bumper on European models. They had colour codes suffixed - 06W which is Anthractite Grey, and 01C Which is black. The 06W was available in limited numbers from Karmann only. There is no seperate part number for a brown bumper, usually it would be ...

Mk1 RHD Speedo Cable?

Etka shows the Golf part as 200mm shorter, does anyone know if they can be rerouted on a fuel injected Mk1 to fit? I've looked at having speedy cables make one, but they dont think they can re-use the gearbox end of mine and its not a part they have. I can do it another way with a new mk2 cable and ...

I have a red Ultrabrite LED Bulb in the offside reverse light.
Looks stock until you put the foglight on, then it illuminates red.

Re: New Headliner?

Cheers.
Not ready to do it yet, i'm just getting over the trauma of getting the chrome back into the window rubbers on a freshly painted body, I cant face taking them out again yet :D

Its probably going to be a job for winter.

New Headliner?

The thing really letting my Mk1 down now are the splits and tears and general grubbiness of the headlining, so i'm thinking some time in the near future i'll replace it. There is a German company doing these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370768092122?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 Has anyone fitted one? Or any ...

I suppose I should put a pic here...
Fresh MOT today - the first in 13 years.

The last time I drove this I was 30, and still had lots of hair!

The drive home tonight was a proper trip down memory lane :D
