just a thought but have you checked your earth connections, make sure there clean, making a good contact and no breaks etc, always worth checking before you pull the starter out.

how did you check it? get a multimeter on it and measure the voltage drop over the earth route from starter to battery. also worth checking the +ve cable for a voltage drop too. they do slowly degrade over time
Re: Starter moter bush thingy bob
The A A man checked for any voltage drop from the battery to starter ( had flat battery ) if the car does not start first turn it will need jump starting even when battery fully charged ( battery checked by AA man) that's what made me think starter motor bush ?Nate wrote:how did you check it? get a multimeter on it and measure the voltage drop over the earth route from starter to battery. also worth checking the +ve cable for a voltage drop too. they do slowly degrade over time

you could try stripping it down, cleaning it all out with some degreaser or carb cleaner, greasing it up and re-assembling. they are reasonably straightforward to strip, and haynes usually explain them quite well
