Clutch cable gone now

Post by kariba »

Just when I thought I had sorted the GTX's teething problems for now, she threw another one at me on Saturday. :dash:

On my way to band pratice in the middle of Leicester and it fails. I managed to limp her onto a carpark, walk to practise then had to get the wife to recover me again!

We love it dont we! :beers:

Got one for my GT11 same day... Brakes midlands at Swad. ... They might even have 1 in stock. Sillier things have been known... They love enquiries from Rocco owners! ... I've got to the point where the staff hide behind the counter when I go in now!

Ahh mate that sucks. Not wanting to tempt fate, but maybe worth replacing the throttle cable too while your at it? Thats a bigger pain when it goes!

That's a bummer but at least it's easy to replace. As you will already know, look for this around the cable hole in the bulkhead. :dash:

Mine went about 5-6 years ago - not a difficult job to do - just a bit fiddly.

MODERATORS: Please move to HELP section, thanks

Replaced clutch cable, nice easy job and inspected hole thru firewall. This is the first thing I check when buying a rocco, its already had a good plate welded in, so thats all good :good:

However, after fitting the new cable, the problem still exists. The pedal can only be depressed a third of its travel then comes to a dead stop and you cannot go further. This isnt enough travel to fully engage the clutch (if its engaging at all...)gears crunch etc. I have checked the lever arm that the cable connects to on the gearbox and that is being pulled up when the pedal is depressed.

Im beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with the push rod or if the clutch has "shifted" :swoon:

Any ideas?

Tried playing with the adjuster on the cable at the gearbox end?
