Oil buzzer and low pressure! Help!

I read that people say it should be fitted to the oil filter housing, I imagine pressure would be a bit higher here?

If you think about it, in an unrestricted hydraulic environment, the oil pressure will be the same no matter were you measure it ;) ( imho of course ;) )

I hoped this thread would be done and dusted....but

Got in the car this morning after using it yesterday with no problems, and for about 2 weeks.
Turned it over and oil light didn't go out even at idle. Oil press gauge reads ZERO! And valve lifters very noisy.
Tried to turn over without coil attached, and then reattached and started. Still the same.

Spoke to the garage who fitted new oil pump, they think bearings are shot.
Funny why it would so suddenly happen, after no warning buzzer or oil light for the last 2 weeks.
Any chance the brand new Febi oil pump could have failed??

Now that sounds like a garage trying to get out of looking into it, as you say, bearings do not go back to working for 2 weeks and then suddenly fail.

My guess would be a failed pump drive shaft or a blockage.

Sorry you are having more hassle but contrary to what the garage says, I doubt your crank & bearings are shot (from the recent events list) so it should not be a big job to identify and sort.

I might take the oil pressure sender out and see if any oil pumps out (off the key with no ignition).
If it does not, then it ain't bearings or crank (as that would not cause 100% loss of flow).

Unfortunately, I have no learned an expensive lesson.
Don't ever shotblast and powdercoat a valve cover!

Consequently after realising that was the last thing I did before the oil pump failed,
I took the cover off to find the breather blocked with metal shavings from the bloody shot blasting.
The guy did tell me he blocked it off, but anyways...

Hopefully it's not caused more damage as the oil filter did it's job, so have to clean the head out and replace rocker cover to ensure no more metal crap in the engine and hopefully no more failed oil pumps!

ohhh buggering hell iv just shot blasted my rocker cover and powdercoated it :s and my car is doing the exact same thing but doesnt like to start when cold not to me i think i best take it off asap and clear the engine out. :( lesson learned BUGGER

Yes definitely take it off, and either do as I did and cut out the metal gauze breather to get it really really clean and weld it back it... or buy another rocker cover.
Can you verify you have low oil pressure though?
Certainly worth taking the sump off and inspecting, you may catch it early before it destroys the oil pump.

Or at the very least make sure it's clean before you put it back on. Brake cleaner is wonderful stuff, and get's the innards back to where it should be. The way I look at it, if you WOULD eat off it, then it's still a bit dirty so do it again, lol.

As an aside, I'm just on doing an engine rebuild, and my garage is starting to resemble an operating theatre with the amount of near sterile parts sitting on my bench. I just need a machine in the corner that goes *ping* for ambiancé now.

well myn wont start properlly when cold but wqill run fine once the oil becomes warm. Im goingh to take it off tonight and leave it off ill just put a filter on the outside for now and also new oil pump and oil ius in order firstly tho get it started and flush it out :(

i have the same problem with my oil light and buzzer too, have done for a while now, i have had the whole oil cooling done but still goes off when in 5th gear! i had the same problem with a previous scirocco and i was told its a common fault with them. as my brother in law had a GT11 and he just used to hit the dashboard and it would turn off.

Oh bugger, here we go again!

Thought i dodged a bullet, but oil pressure readings have dropped drastically again.
At around 15psi at 2000rpm now.

I'm gonna either break the car the parts, or replace the engine now. This is crazy.

2E block... if you're replacing the engine. Your head will bolt straight on, unless of course you can get an EX for free. I'd give you my old block, but it's been open for quite some time.

The buzzer going off randomly can be caused by a dry joint on the printed circuit fitted to the rear of the clocks. I've had this problem in the past, buzzer goes off smack the dash it stops = electrical fault.
Easily fixed once located with solder and a bit of wire. I did check my oil pressure with a gauge just to confirm that it was a wiring fault.
