engine number

Post by Rusty dan »

I have been requested by my insurer to supply the engine number from my scirocco.

Where on the 1.8 block is the engine number located? Is the location different between 8v and 16v

Thanks

It should be on the engine block on the left side as you look at it (waterpump / alternator side) just under the cylinder head. Alternatively, if it's the original engine, and you have it present... it'll be on the chassis plate on the slam panel. Second line down IIRC.

On an 8v the engine number is on a small flat area at the top of the block just above and slightly to the left of the distributor.

No idea where it is on a 16v.

You might not need to move the alternator mate, I've just checked on mine earlier and it's in full view, if you squint slightly and put your neck on a crick... :yup:
