This 81 Storm belongs to a guy from Congleton, he's owned it since it was 2 years old and paid £4250 for it over 28 years ago. It was renovated a couple of years back, rear arches, sills, inner wings, the usual stuff, then had a colour change from Havanna Brown to VW Quartz and the result is stunning !!! The interior leather was recoloured and a few subtle mods added. He bought it to my workshop for a few small jobs to be done. The pics arent brilliant im afraid, but here goes.

Incidentally, the owner, Alan, has an extensive collection of mk1 parts including new unused, Genuine VW brightwork (the metal stuff, not the chromed plastic) and non genuine repair panels that he may be willing to part with. I have mentioned that he may benefit from joining the Register, especially if he intends to sell some parts.

Don't ask me....it was like that when i got here !

It had problems, starting when the engines warm Alex, its ok if its started straight away after its warm, but if you leave it for 20 mins or so and then start it, it struggles a bit. Checked a few things, changed the thermo time switch, replaced a split breather hose on the inlet manifold, but im pretty sure its down to the injectors dripping when the car is switched off.
. As the car only does about 200 miles a year, i suggested it may be worth Alan trying a good quality injector cleaning additive such as Forte and giving it a few good long runs to give the additive a chance to do its job, and if theres no improvement then maybe a new set of injectors would be best. I did offer to put some miles on it for him
if he didnt get time to drive it !! :yup:
It also had an intermiitent problem of not turning over when the igniton key was turned, a check on the igniton wiring turned up a loose connection on the immobiliser and hopefully it s done the trick.
