For anyone else who has done this mod (sorry for the threadjacking) how much did you have to alter the jetting on the carb? I'm going to drop one into my head this weekend when i finally reassemble the thing, but i don't want to run the thing too rich/too lean.

Yes - def worth sticking the GTi cam in!!! One of the best things I did! While we're on the subject - anyone had a problem with the Weber having a flat-spot around 4/5th's throttle? I changed the cam and weber at the same time. Fitted new jets, and the only thing I can think of is fitting the jets the wrong way around (if that's possible??). Sorry for thread-jacking slightly, but I thought I'd ask as everyone here has done the mod.

Also the 1.6 GTI cam is even livelier than the 1.8 GTI, if you're using the shim top tappets. LMK if you need one
