Vossies slightly modified mk2
After the mk1 restoration I got a bit bored, and needed a new project,
this is the mk1 which is kept completely stock.
(I posted a build topic of this one on the "old" forum, I'm afraid that
topic sleeps with the fishes)
This time I wanted to do more modifications, so I went out and bought this old shed
And this is how it looked when I was done with it

After I got rid of the remains of the shed, I got out again and bought this one
A '82 scirocco GT, 1.5-5 speed Engine was a bit tired, but the bodyword and interior were in
good condition.

Re: Vossies slightly modified mk2
I fitted different headlights, and a front bumper without the huge wash nozzels
The AAZ engine and gearbox fitted
Tried to fit a 16v radiator, but the bottom opening was right in front of the alternator

Re: Vossies slightly modified mk2
Electrics were modified as well since I wanted to use the later type fusebox,
a golf mk2 cockpit wich rev counter and the original vento engine-wiring.
First some electric studies
An then got to soldering and rewiring
Ripped out the old wiring
And started putting the new, looks a bit messy, picture taken during testing

Re: Vossies slightly modified mk2
Time to check the underside, needed a bit of extra space so the mk1
got some fresh air
Proper off-the-road hight
removed all the old black protective stuff
Car gathered a bit of dust (posting a topic takes less time than doing the actual work)

Body did need some minor welding
And a few little other rust hole, rust cutted out and fresh metal welded in so it
should be a Ok for the years to come

Re: Vossies slightly modified mk2
As I needed all the space under the hood i placed the fans in front of the radiator,
i got double fan so I can swith them in to stages
I found myself a passat VR6 radiator, it had the connections on the "battery" side

To clear the top connection the battery had to be moved
Rewelded the supports
The fuelfilter and coolant reservoir brackets are also in place

Re: Vossies slightly modified mk2
I started working on the exhaust, i used a golf mk2 16v rear damper and
a scirocco 16v middle damper. They have a nice diameter so the turbo
can breathe easily.
Both parts needed modification to fit the old type mounting points
First lining it all up
And welded up, also a custom downpipe

Re: Vossies slightly modified mk2
Modified a golf mk2 airclaener to fit the scirocco
And installed.
I used a golf mk2 boot window-cleaning-fluid-reservoir (I assume there is a better word for it)
it had the ideal shape

Re: Vossies slightly modified mk2
Bigger brakes were fitted, scirocco front 16v brakes and golf IV brakes at the back
Pain in the *** to bleed the system because the calipers ar up-side down, but once
all the air is out it brakes like a dream.
Engine ready for the first start
