No, the chrome sill trim clips are still available but slightly different.
The ‘Boomerang trim clips’ are like hens teeth.
Iirc about 10 per side are required (for the B post trim also.

Sorry Pete.
Missed you’d updated, yes I’d be very keen to order and try a few. Mark me down for 20.
Thanks Jim.

16 in total - 8 per side for the Mk1. They are for the boomerang trim and B pillar round the rear side windows.essextom wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 3:21 pmSo how many clips are needed for a whole vehicle? Guessing these are for the chrome strip fitment?PeteGLi wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 10:28 amI have spoken to the company who tell me that the clips would be made in engineering nylon.PeteGLi wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2019 10:48 pm I spoke to a 3D printing company at the Practical Classic & Restoration Show in Birmingham, and gave them a boomerang trim clip, to see what they could do and to price up.
I had an email from them on Saturday, and I will be calling the company tomorrow to get them to clarify the details.
Peter
1 clip consists of both parts - the clip and the centre dowel.
Price wise, depends upon the number of clips ordered:
1 clip = £25.00 each
2-5 clips = £12.50 each
6-15 clips = £5.20 each
16-60 clips = £2.65 each
61-100 clips = £1.86 each
101 + clips = £1.52 each
Plus VAT on top.
Any takers?
Peter

Re: 3D printing and Scirocco parts?
Don't bother paying folk for these clips. A batch of a good amount will be possible on any decent well set up printer.
Im sure a few of the people on here have decent enough units like my prusa. Someone who's on there's alot at the moment just needs a spool and few beers buying for them :)
I think alot of diy user issues people find with prints is not down to the material unless its cheap filament . But more layer adhesion on there prints and set up. Pla is brittle on thin parts but I've had good results on anything beyond a few mm thick. I was hanging NDVi crop survey cameras on my commercial drone with mounting plates i printed in pla :)
I would offer a nylon run myself but my printer hasnt ran for a while now and probably wont until i fit the new upgrade kit i have for it
Anyone printing themselves as well i would suggest trying a olsen Ruby nozzle.
Its prints every material including hardened well and means your z height stays a constant physically as its a fit and forget nozzle. I put one on last year and it will last another year with my rate of use.

How are your printing adventures going so far then?
Its amazing what you can make with then.
ABS plastic vapour smoothed is something i will have a go with soon. It comes out gloss. Have you tried abs yet for strength btw or petg?

Re: 3D printing and Scirocco parts?
I’m new to 3D printing, getting there though.
That Mk2 sill clip has 3 files, tried one in pla that printed well but was too brittle. Just printed another in petg seems a lot stronger, will try it out tomorrow.

Re: 3D printing and Scirocco parts?
Let me know how you get on bud :)
One huge factor that is easy to miss when starting is bed cleaning.
You should use iso alcohol to clean your bed.
Ive tried it all and after pulling my hair out getting prints fail with a sound set up i finally got some iso and like magic perfect prints again. It helps first layer adhesion no end and thats the basis of the whole print in reality.
Mine stick so well on large prints i could pick the printer up by the bed if i wanted to break it haha. Alot of folk use cold spray to shock them off the bed but i use a mega sharp scraper with rounded corners to stop it digging in the bed or you.
