Fuel filter required

Post by hanna.melbo »

Struggling to find a fuel filter for a mk2 1.8i storm.... Looks like a small inline metal cylinder that sits on top of air filter housing. Any suggestions as to where I can get this from? Or part number? I have tried all the mainstream parts places but all seem to provide the wrong one!

I'm 99% certain it's the first one - but you can get them much cheaper at Euro Car Parts.
Their website is incorrect though, for the Scirocco they always come up with a plastic inline filter. But if you plug in details for a Golf Mk1 1.8 GTI, you get the right one.

eBay also sells them.

Also look under Mk1 golf as they use the same smaller fuel filter on early cars.

Nearly all the mechanical parts are available some where and if you are having trouble find stuff there is a thread on here about suppliers or just ask and I’m sure we can help.

That’s the later bigger fuel filter, yes it will fit your 1990 Scirocco, pre 85 ish used the smaller fuel filter. :-D

The VW part number is 433-133-511 for the Storm. Volkswagen still carries these, or you can get a filter from Bosch as Bosch number F 5021 / 71020. You are probably aware of it, but just in case, there are also some copper sealing rings for the fuel lines which should also be replaced when you change the filter.
