oil from pressure sender, mk2

Post by chrisdevon »

Just noticed oil leak started this week, from nothing to quite a few drips.

Easy to locate its weeping from the contact on the oil pressure sender on the right (viewed from front) of cylinder head.
Unless ive read things wrong, its the low pressure one I need 0.15 - 0.45 bar ?
But the reason for the thread, is this common? is it a sign of another problem, high pressure/ breather blockage etc??
Looked in pipes out from rocker cover to air intake, they have a nasty off white mayonnaise stuff in there, but not blocked..
Thanks
Chris.

yes its quite common
my last sensor failed and leaked like this, cant remember which came first whether it leaked or failed but one thing led to the other.
its getting colder now so your going to get condensation in the engine breathers leading to the mayonnaise stuff.
take the car for a good long blast, get it nice and hot then see if there`s any in there.
by chance are you using castrol oil?

I dont mind project cars but I HATE SANDING!!!
