Removing steering wheel spline adaptor

Post by Mark H »

Got myself a 4 button Scirocco steering wheel, just found out it is a small spline and the shaft appears to have a big spline adaptor.
Tried various 2 legged pullers and got now where, not shifted at all.
Does anyone have a 3 legged puller I could borrow (North West) or what have you used to remove it before, any ideas ???

You can do it with a grinder/dremel if your careful and don't want to keep the adapter.

Don't grind all the way through, leave it as close as you can and split it with a chisel.

Finally got it sorted, what a bast*$d of a job. would not volunteer to do it again. Used bearing puller, 2 legged puller, heat and 18st of brute force
