Lower Strut Brace
Am I right in thinking this strut brace will fit my Mk2?: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OMP-FRONT-LOW ... 2c7bc668c5
If so, what/ would I need anything with it to fit it or does it use pre existing bolts?
Cheers
Chris

Re: Lower Strut Brace
I have of of these on my Mk2. I have the anthracite version. It did not come with new bolts, but the tubular fitting points are not so thick that you need new longer bolts. Works fine with the originals. Such a worthwhile upgrade though..

I remember Mr Funk telling me a lower strut brace transforms the handling but I neglected to ask exactly where it fits, can anyone point me in the direction of a pic or diagram?

Between the front of the wishbones. Mounts using the bolt that goes through the front wishbone bush.marcus wrote:I remember Mr Funk telling me a lower strut brace transforms the handling but I neglected to ask exactly where it fits, can anyone point me in the direction of a pic or diagram?

Re: Lower Strut Brace
Did the wishbones move out of alignment when you took the bolts out, and did you jack one or both sides at the same time when you fitted it? Just need to know what I am up against when I fit mine.

I think that's just the angle of the photo, seems to be well clear of anything in reality :)mark1gls wrote:Looks close to the exhaust etc from the angle of the photo?
Although someone will probably come along and tell me I did it wrong, I just jacked it on one side and had no problem with the wishbones moving, simplest job I've done on the car I think!go-for-it1 wrote:Did the wishbones move out of alignment when you took the bolts out, and did you jack one or both sides at the same time when you fitted it? Re: Lower Strut Brace
just a thought - you are *supposed* to tighten those bolts with the weight of the car on the wheels. in reality, doing that is a pain in the hole
