Todays Bodging

Post by Risocco »

Those paying attention will have noticed that I want to fit an Injection Head to my Carb'd (propper engine) bottom end. This poses a few issues and today I set about sorting them. Hopefully this will inspire a few of you guys to try this upgrade :good:

So you gets ya head...

First issues are the injector holes...

Image

And the air thingy for the fuel injection system...

Image

So I plugged the injector holes with a few bolts...

Image

Next, the air thingy stops the inlet from fitting and will also allow water to get in the head. That would be bad. So to correct the size issue, first wrapped a little masking tape to the valve to allow the hacksaw to bite and trimmed it down a wee bit to allow clearance...

Image

And here we go all connected up...

Image

Now, the bolts that are plugging the injector holes will not do a decent job on their own, so I got some of this from Halfords...

Image

Looks like a mini Swiss-Roll...

Image

So, follow the pack instructions and get sealing...

Image

All done...

Image

And finally, pop a wee bolt down the valve and seal...

Enjoy a cuppa and ciggy. This paste goes rock-hard, well impressed with the quality.

Hope somebody finds this usefull :good:

Would it not have been easier to have unscrewed the injector seats and screwed in gearbox drain plugs :?:

Most probably dude, but I've had no exposure to Injection gear in anyway, I knew they came out but did want to bugger it all up. I know you can put 1p coins in too but decided on using bolts.

Also, wasn't too sure what the gearbox drain plugs were, but I do now for future refernece. :good:

just a quickly i found it cracked out my old gls and had running problems

ended up fitting gearbox ones to it then run ok for year

as for the air pipe i cut off level with the head and tap the hole to take a small grub screw in it.

or fit a 1.6 inlet manifold from a mk1 as they dont have the water way
plus if you cut the heater fins off it gives a bit of power
