Really sad news.
Sandy was a gentleman who would go out his way to help you. He loved his car and meeting others like minded at shows.
He'll be sadly missed.

1989 Helios Blue Mk2
Jetta. I've been trying to get my hands on pretty special Mk2 Storm for some time and with the owner still unwilling to sell I set about looking for something a bit different. You've missed the" Caddilac looks with Swedish fuel economy" part.
Nothing to see here. It's mine. I'm off to sell a kidney. This'll be my pension fund when I retire.

Have you tried moving the steering wheel from side to side whilst trying to turn the key?

Re: GT2 Low Idle and stall AFTER accelerating
Check the rubber flange beneath the carb and the inlet manifold isn't split. Start the car and gently tilt the carb from side to side and see if you can hear it drawing air or worse hanging off.

I'm with Nate on this one. The bottom inner part of the cover that is on before you put the belt on can cause this. I've seen it a few times.

Re: Steering Wheel Removal
It sounds like your horn push has split apart. If the part you have removed is just the rubbery bit then this is the case. You'll need to carefully lever off the rest as one and you'll only have one wire to detach.

Hi Matt
Gorgeous car. Not sure if its the same car but I think I saw this at GTI International in 2011. I think it was an Asian chap who had it.
It needs a polish

Re: Spotted
Spotted this tidy GTII in Hamilton retail park last week. I think I've saw this before. The owner was from Coatbridge. http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp177/neillyboy19/33d8a73cd1ad5384a35935f2c0cfff1d_zpsc343da46.jpg http://i409.photobucket.com/albums/pp177/neillyboy19 ...
