Re: Bang on lock dropping off curbs?

Hi, we spoke this morning...

This clang noise, possible spring hitting something? Have a look for witness marks.

Hi James, that's mine, but in the pic it was my dad's. And yes between us we've had a lot of them.
How did you find it?

Re: Fiberglass Panels, what's out there?

I looked into fibre glass wings and bonnets a long time ago. There wasn't/isn't a manufacturer for off the shelf parts. An old mate and I went and got some moulds made up with new old stock wings. The panels turned out to weigh at least as much as the standard steel items. The only bonus is no rust ...

No, they need to bolt through to the hub. Longer bolts, or better still, studs are the way to go.

Fit a lower ET wheel rather than spacers as far as safety is concerned I think, even though IIRC MSA regs allow about an inch spacer.

Re: Slosstophers Scala

Those wheel spacers were banned by the MSA for a very good reason, I'd ditch them!

Re: 16v Handbrake Cables & Super Sticky Rubber & Bodyshops/r

As the car is likely to cover less than 1000 miles a year now going forward and only on sunny Sundays, can anyone recommend a high performance sticky tyre. Not overly fussed on wet weather performance as i'll drive it like my missus when its wet or not at all. 185/60/14

Fuel tank running very low?

Dodgy electrical connection under lateral g? You can try wiggling things while engine is idling.

Re: Apparent overheating

Thanks Brunty.

Assuming it is just a faulty sender, is there any 'easy' way of measuring the actual water temperature to confirm? What should the temperature be anyway? Haynes says the thermostat is supposed to open at 82C but what does that translate to?

I have a digital thermometer with a probe ...

Re: Apparent overheating

Could be just a dodgy sender, you can pick them up easy enough from GSF and Euro.

Probably the wheel bearing.

I have a set of the billet Dynalite Wiwoods with 280mm discs, they're very good :)

Re: engine conversions

I've done;

1.8 8v on twin weber 40 dcoe carbs. It's quick enough, with a cam and light porting 4 branch and exhaust anyway. And it sounds good. Keeps up with the likes of the Fiesta ST (2.0l 16v 150bhp)
1.8 16v, full race, cams head, bottom end, over 200bhp with twin weber 45s. Very quick (At least ...
