Sorry for the late reply here guys...thank for the advice, i think you're right.
Where would you go to get a new one? Ebay?
And thanks Nate for the offer of help...i think it could make ...

Rusty tank, need some work - MK2 GT '88

Sadly the guy who did a grand job last time on the tank has retired. I should have remedied it with plastic filler neck but couldn't source one for awhile and since gave up, replacing inline filters as i go.
I have no idea who could do this work again in my area (Cheltenham and Gloucester). Would ...

End plate on gearbox leaking

My mechanic called me to tell me my gearbox is leaking.
He says it's from the plate on the end of it, it has VW on there.
Any idea where i could get one from to replace it?
My Rocco is a 1.6 GT 1988

Thanks :hi:

Car's spluttering on the motorway...probably means...

The tank has rust in, again. :?
So yeah, it's probably my own fault for not finding a plastic fuel neck. I had my tank out about two years ago, cleaned and re-welded.
Is there anything i can do instead of this job again or am i going to have to face up to it and just get the tank sorted and then ...

I think VW charge £80 per hour.
I know the labor rates cheap, I was referring to the fact that 3 hours seems a long time to figure out such a minor issue, given the symptoms. :dunno:

Have i been screwed?

Just before i went away for two weeks, my Rocco started playing up.
In one journey I had several problems on the way home one night. First the heater stopped working, shortly after the headlights went very dim (no high beam either) and then lastly the wipers/washers stopped working.
I'm not all that ...

Re: Heater fan packed in?

It is actually possible to remove the blower unit via the scuttle in the engine bay, but it's a faff. Basically you have to separate the two halves and pull them out one each end. Is it possible there's just a loose connector in there somewhere? It's easy enough to remove the heater control panel ...

Heater fan packed in?

I was out for a drive on Saturday with the good lady, the car became very hot as we were stuck in traffic for ages.
After some time the fan started to lose and regain power...i switched from setting 1-3 several times and then it stopped!
At a stand still when i switched it to setting 3, the power ...

Brake pads driving me nuts

I bought some discs and pads from GSF last month.
I fitted them, made sure i had copper slip on the backs and other parts that could squeal.
I did ask for a decent set of pads but these have been squealing since fitment...i'm guessing you can't return pads, so what can i do about them? :dunno:

Re: Require replacement discs '88 MK2 GT

Just one you may not of noticed, these are 256mm discs from a 16v scirocco. Standard Sciroccos are 239mm discs.

Thanks Ian...this is what i came back to read actually. I've been tied up with so much recently i still haven't had chance to do this.
Wheni called GSF the guy asked me about the size ...

Re: Require replacement discs '88 MK2 GT

Thanks guys
Yeah i defiantly like knowing the brand. This just looked like a nice set and from the seller info, they seem pretty well recommended.
Where would you guys go for a set of vented discs and pads?
Links would be cool, don’t mind if it’s not Ebay. :good:

Require replacement discs '88 MK2 GT

Eventually when i'm paid i'll be changing my ruined set of discs for some new ones, prefferably vented along with pads.

I've seen these on Ebay.

Discs and pads

Would i be happy with this purchase?
