Re: Sad news - Old Mac Rocco
My condolences to Laura-Jane and his family. He was a lovely helpful bloke and always had a little "shop" whenever he came to shows, and as others have said a boot with a flask and cake or sausage rolls which he would always share. RIP matey.

Re: unkown problem with car
The return line restrictor which is built in to the swirl pot return spigot is about 1.2mm, so the pipe diameter is irrelevant so long as the restriction is about this figure. New swirl pots from after market sellers don't generally have the correct restriction size so allow more fuel to return ...

Re: VDO Gauges fitment
Oil pressure at idle when hot about 1-2bar. You have really got to give the engine a good road run at high speed before the oil temp comes up but should only rise to about the first mark above minimum on the gauge if the sensor has a blue ring on it.

Re: VDO Gauges fitment
Rob Help me out mate, am I correct in this theory.. - VDO 5 bar oil pressure sender in the right side of the head looking from the front, (blue cable and black rubber boot) with the 2 pole oil pressure sender and connect the blue cable to the terminal on the new pressure sender. This will reinstate ...

Re: VDO Oil Pressure / Oil temp Guage Fitting
Mark, I am not sure how to link my previous posts and contributions on this subject so I will bump a couple of of them separately. I have done this job and it is fairly easy if you have all the kit from an Audi 80 Sport. Bumps to follow.

Re: MK1 Storm Passes MOT.. but....
Old fuel is a no no also. Unleaded, if left for long periods, loses its volatility. I have a mate who services petrol lawn mowers, every spring people bring them in saying "it won't start but was working fine when I put it away for the winter" he says he makes £60 servicing charge just by putting ...

Re: Suspension upgrade for GTII
Fronts are oil filled with piston on the rod if original, they only have inserts fitted if they have had work done in the past, Tim yours have obviously had the inserts fitted by someone else. If the struts are corroded then you need to assess whether they are worth removing, blasting and recoating ...
