Re: 1991 20v turbo k04

After a conversation with mathew from trackslag exhausts, i have decided to go down the k04 route, as the k03 downpipe sits dangerously close to the steering joint. I want to drive this car, and occasionally track it. Having the engine mounts sheer and the exhaust sit on the steering joint and ...

Re: What engine??

Im going down the 1.8t route hopfully shouldnt be long, most items can be found online etc. Epytec mounts make the job easier. Fly by wire throttle and hydraulic clutch from the 02a gearbox. I thought of abf lump but found that parts were hard to find and engines getting on 20 years old hence now ...

Re: 1986 gt 1.6 restoration / rusy mess

Nice play in the workshop today, both wishbones changed for new ones from vw herritage, complete with fitting kit. My only gripe is that they send all the fixings apart from the nut and bolt holding the ball joint to the hub. Minor but can be a tad arward if yours isnt in the best of shape. Also ...

Re: 1986 gt 1.6 restoration / rusy mess

Did you change over the studs when fitting the rubber gasket? Do the gaskets from VW heritage even come with new studs? The new studs don't have a shoulder on them so the gasket fit's flat. Your method has seemed to worked. :-) The 2 gaksets ive bought from herritage never came with new studs, but ...

Re: 1986 gt 1.6 restoration / rusy mess

Swapped the leaking cork rocker gasket for a new rubber one from heritage and it was pumping the oil out the back onto inlet and exhaus. Turns our the metal in the gasket wasnt letting it sit properly so knocked these out with a small socket & hey presto perfect fit and no oil leak

Just opened an email from the exhaust place and they dont make the downpipe in right hand driver ovb as they only have lhd cars in germany, the steering uj gets in the way.. qpeng dont do them anymore so will have to be a custom job adding more expense to the build
