Right spent some time on the car today first off Checked the waxstat when the car is warming up it gradually pushes the cam round into the full open position Ive got a spare carb so i checked how it works and when the cam opens fully there is a click as the throttle slots in and the cam engages ...

Progress report Today i had a few hours so spent a bit more time workng on the car First off tdc on the fly wheel Then i removed the cam cover fanbelt bottom pulley (after checking it goes on exactly the same way) then removed bottom cam cover Then refitted pulley to check timing marks All ...

Yes checked the carb base and all is fine Today i got hold of a decent torch and managed to find the dimple on the fly wheel for tdc with that sorted and lined up (checked piston on no1 was at top with a screwdriver carefully) i checked the mark on the dizzy the rotor is pointing about 1/4 inch past ...

Yeah will clean em up and see how it goes the car has done loads of motorway miles so it has been used quite a bit i think the advice about the timing being out could be true ive been reading on the net about it and the pear shaped long mark on the flywheel is 18deg btdc tdc should be a small hole ...

Right checked the belt 90 degree twist so all ok next removed the plugs very black and sooty so will give em a good clean they are also of the 3 prong variety though not sure if thats a problem next i want to check the timing i will borrow a timing light later this week but i want to check something ...

Still got problems with it Checked and repaired the wiring around the carb for now when its warmed up it idles at 1100rpm (too high i think) Does run nice with no missfiring But when i switch off it carries on running on(sort of chugging) the manifold warm up pipe to the airfilter is missing plus ...

Hi had gearbox and clutch issues With crunching between 2nd and 3rd on a 1,8 scala carb the biting point was also right at the top so checked the adjustment at the cable There was no free play what so ever and i am led to believe that there should be 10 mm so i did that And this lowered the biting ...
