clutch cable

Post by jond »

Hi had gearbox and clutch issues With crunching between 2nd and 3rd on a 1,8 scala carb the biting point was also right at the top so checked the adjustment at the cable There was no free play what so ever and i am led to believe that there should be 10 mm so i did that And this lowered the biting point to half way but there was a good inch and a half of free play at the pedal before i felt any resistance. gear change was much better But just before going back in to second it does crunch a bit deffo better than it was so hoping box and clutch are not broke Anyway looking at the cable on the box and the bracket before the clutch lever should there be a rubber bush fitted Mine has just the steel bracket with the cable going through And when winding the adjuster all the way down the clutch lever moves down with it a good inch or so is this correct any info great Thanks

Yes, there should be a rubber bush present! Also you need to make sure your clutch cable is sitting verticle.

You may still be able to buy the bush from the dealers?

bush looks like this.

This should also push up your cable with may help with the adjustment. On mine I've also got a rubber flap fitted to the bush and I've seen both bits for sale on ebay but can't find a link to them.

Yes, the rubber bush is a 2 piece affair.
