Re: 4WD rocco ideas

Not sure if this is just me, but people are generally shocked hearing it's FWD.
I've always been tempted to gut it and drop the shell on something a bit... beefier. Pick up an accident damaged car, gut it and drop the rocco shell on the running gear and start welding.
Registering it isn't ...

Re: Burning through earth straps (and patience)

New starter didn't change anything. It's getting power, just seems to be getting no signal from what I assume is the ignition wire.
I can't make much sense of the wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual, I assume the smoke from the fuse box was that wire burning out but I can't see any signs of damage ...

Re: Burning through earth straps (and patience)

Thanks for the pointers mate. Starter makes sense, I assumed from the fact it was trying to start that it was working. I'll whip it off tomorrow and have a look.

Burning through earth straps (and patience)

Car has been sat in the garage for months on an unrelated driveshaft issue. Recently put a new alternator as it was hesitating when cranking, this didn't solve the problem though.
left battery disconnected, wouldn't start first time. checked everything, changed fuel, all filters, plugs. Finally ...

Stumbled upon this. Bonnet looks tempting. What's the crack? Anyone ordered from them?

Driveshaft issues

OS drive shaft was removed, all the bearing popped out when removing from gearbox side so ordered a replacement.
New one has arrived and doesn't fit, it has same number of splines and the length is fine but where it bolts into the gearbox it's slightly too small.
Have check the description and it ...

Re: My old GTII rolling resto

Needed new shocks for the MOT, now running a set of cheap and cheerful vmaxx coilovers.

Re: My old GTII rolling resto

I noticed the rubber around the lock has persished so I wonder if that's been letting water in too.

One of the most notorious places for letting water in. When you replace the seal, take a note of which way round the hook on the back of the lock goes!
Will do cheers.

Changed the oil ...

Re: My old GTII rolling resto

Had a bit of free time today, so decided to tackle the swimming pool in the boot. Everything out, dried and cleaned up inside and some silicone sealant on the light units. I noticed the rubber around the lock has persished so I wonder if that's been letting water in too.
Also got the new alternator ...

Re: My old GTII rolling resto

You need to remove the plastic inner liner. This then enables you to access the ariel mounting up at the back of the wing.
Cheers. Took that out today, saw how thick the sealant was on the a pillar and changed my mind. Pulled the ariel out anyway, ill repace it someday. Did the wrap with the wing ...

Re: My old GTII rolling resto

Took the front wheels off, only took an hour per wheel this time. There is (was) a lip on the inside that stuck out about 2mm. Ground that down with one of those flappy sanding wheel drill bits and a bit of copper grease to put then back on.
New front disks and pads on the front. Changed the ...

Re: My old GTII rolling resto

Thanks guys. The indicators arrived a week ago, haven't seen them yet as I haven't been home. Haven't had chance to get any work done, driving to work in the pitch black black and pouring rain, and repeating the process on the way back. Got a chance today on my day off to sort the wing out that my ...
