OS drive shaft was removed, all the bearing popped out when removing from gearbox side so ordered a replacement.
New one has arrived and doesn't fit, it has same number of splines and the length is fine but where it bolts into the gearbox it's slightly too small.
Have check the description and it says compatible with 1.8 83-92 EX MK2 Scirocco.
Were there different types of shafts? or have I ended up with wrong item?
Have contacted seller but no reply as yet, just want to know the score.
Thanks

Re: Driveshaft issues
It helps to know what your car is? Injection or carb? What year?
Most carb inner CVs are the same as the EX ones you have and have a 90mm diameter.
B reg onwards Injected cars (and all G reg onwards carb cars) should have 100mm ones.

Re: Driveshaft issues
There is some variation in the design of the drive shafts - some are solid cast, some are solid machined. Depending on which you have, the dished washer which goes on the shaft before the inner cv joint, either has a smooth inner circumference or it matches the splines.
Compare the two and see if you can spot any difference.

Re: Driveshaft issues
yeh it sounds like you have the 90 mm inner diameter joints and your gearbox needs the 100mm type
depending on power output and year these vary between the 2 sizes
