Bought this motor in 2009. Drove it for about a year and then gave it to my dad as it was unreliable and costing a fortune in insurance.
Since then its served as a daily workhorse and was then unceremoniously dumped in a damp garage in July.
I had some issues with my car (ie. 6 blown engines and a new shell) so I need a daily. Enter my old mk2 GTII.
Took me and my dad a weekend to get it started. It had a dodgy battery, dodgy terminals, the dizzy cap wouldn't stay in place and the alternator is a bit shit.
The car is now being used daily and between this and my MX5 drift project progress is going to be slow. So far its had a new battery and a fuel filter. It needs a new rocker cover gasket, battery terminals, leads, alternator, shocks, rear shoes, OSF wing. Boot lid needs treating for rust and needs a deep clean inside.
It does have some good bits though. It's running a Weber 32/34 carb, vinyl sunroof and smoked front indicators from one of my old sciroccos. Wheels are pretty much brand new as I bought them for my dad last Christmas just before he told me he'd bought a new car and didn't need them. Bonus for me.
