Where can i get?

Post by Delrocco1 »

Okay, Three quick questions to you Mk1 gurus. One: Where can i get a window regulator? Is it a case of aquiring a good second hand one? Two: What about tailgate struts? I'm guessing most second hand ones will be in a similair condition to mine! Will Mk2 ones fit? Three: Still after the software for K-Star! Someone must have tinkered with this bit of kit in the past. Milford Microsystems unhelpful!

i had to google that. i'm sure i found the wrong k-star!
The KSTAR, or Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research is a magnetic fusion device being built at the National Fusion Research Institute in Daejon, South Korea.
:shocking:

as for tailgate struts, you could try either having a measure then raiding your local scrappy to find ones of a newer motor that are the same length. there are only a couple of commonly used fittings on the ends. have you tried getting new ones from someone like crazyquiff?

I got some new Mk1 Scirocco specific tailgate struts from ebay USA a while back. I will see if I can find details later this week/weekend.

I seem to recall that someone else on here got some in this country subsequently, but I cannot remember who or where from.

I may have a spare second hand window winder regulator somewhere - although I think crazyquiff might do Mk1 Golf ones which, I think may be the same. Which side do you want?

K-Star - The Autoad or mazellan on here may be able to help you, as I think they both have such kits - otherwise I think I read somewhere that Stealth Racing (?) took over an interest.

I bought new tailgate struts for my MK2 from a company called SGS, they are based in Derby, google them, they have a site. The struts are fantastic, well made and really powerful. I think I paid £35 or so.

I want to draw a line under this once and for all.

I bought replacement Tail gate Struts from a very reputable supplier (name withheld) about 5 years ago for my Mk1 at an obscene cost to myself. They fitted perfect, the only trouble was they did not hold the Tail Gate up at all! They were absolute sh1te.

I took a punt on the one's that Crazy Quiffs offer and they are perfect, they fit the my MK1 (Wplate) on both mounting lugs to perfection, yes they do offer a bit of resistance to push against to close the Tail Gate, but hey this is a VDuB after all, one should be used to Vault-like- closures. ;)

That is of course MK 1 Scirocco's
