Will a 91 Mk2 Golf rad fit my GT?

Post by MacColl »

Car is an 89 carbed Mk2 Scirocco GT EX engine..

As title, pretty sure my rad is leaking and I am debating whether just to just get one delivered from Volksbits..

Or for quick turn around for mot (only running a week late now :dash: ) could I use a Mk2 Digifant Golf rad? I know it's wider and it has it's own cowling but would it fit? My rad is a 340mm one and I see that some Scirocco's have a longer rad 225mm? Anyone know for sure if this would be a straight fit? Or should I just get one ordered now!

Just get a Scirocco one... they're freely available.

The longer rad was generally fitted to injected cars. That being said though, it will fit yours with the appropriate pipe work. The locating holes for screws and wotnot are all there (in other words, the rad is different, the body shell is the same despite model)

Yes I ended up ordering the Volks Bits one (only 28.89 delivered) might take over four days but if I actually get everything else done for mot it will be a miracle. The Golf rad is always an option. Thanks :good:

I tried to put a mk2 driver rad into my gt2 when i first got the car and the mounting's don't line up.
The rad in mine was a 16v golf one mind, but the mounting for it is the same as the standard driver item
