Need to source and replace B Pillar trim

Post by Cpt Custom »

The B Pillar trim on my white GT is slightly damaged so I'm thinking it would be good to fix it up for the summer. :training:

As best I can tell there are three possible sources for replacement stickers:

Volkswagen Stickers also on ebay as brownstickers

AutoZaps

TrimSport

A quick search through the forum has thrown up some old threads. However, the comments are slightly mixed so I'm wondering if anyone has bought any of these stickers recently and if so what was your opinion of them?

I'd also welcome any advice on removing the existing sticker and replacing it with the new one. For example, does the window need removing, is a toffee wheel better than a hairdryer and scraper for getting the old one off etc.

:beers:

I renewed the B pillar trim on the Scala, I got them from VW stickers, went on nice and still look niceafter 9 months.
I used a heat gun and picked off the old trim, takes a while, then cleaned up the area with white spirit before the new ones were applied.

Thanks Ian. I thought you'd said you'd replaced yours at some point, but couldn't remember who you'd used.

I did read on here that someone wasn't happy with the fit/match ones from VW Stickers, which was why I thought I'd start the thread and ask for opinions on the various options.

However, by the sounds of it you had no complaints so maybe they were just unlucky.

What about the window and that, did you have to remove anything other than the old vinyl?

:beers:

I left the refitting to a vinyl fitting specialist as I do not have the patience, he only charged me 20 quid but spent ages doing it, mug! He didn't take the windows out, but carefully fitted under the rubber seals.

B pillar stickers.

Post by seanr68 »

Has anyone here removed the black stickers from the B pillars? If so, how much of a pain was it?? Thing is, mine have cracked with age and theres a guy in huddersfield who does replacements for £20.
Now i'm prepared to replace but when removing old ones, doe it tend to bring paint off with sticker?
Any help appreciated.

No probs. :good:

Now I'm confused though, did I post in the wrong thread and you picked up on it, have the mods combined the two or am I just going mad? :hehe:
