fitting doors
Right been through the FAQ and nowt there, this maybe a case of very bad luck but here goes
trying to replace my drivers door with one of the same colour its taken me ages to find one in good nick. So i'm out there in the snow today, its not a difficult job should be done and off for beers very soon....
Er, no! it doesn't fit! It appears to be too far forward and is fowling the front wing leaving no gap at the front and one way to big at the rear. As far as I can tell there is no adjustment for this, how do they build them all and get it to line up??!!! Looks like inless I'm missing something obvious I'll have to remove half of the hinge and machine it down by about 5mm which isn't really great but don't know what else to do!?!

Re: fitting doors
have you got the hinge the right way round? could try a couple of washers as packing pieces to move it
Re: fitting doors
Not sure about the hinge being the right way round or not, its how it came to me so could've been put on wrong I guess I'll give that a go.
Washers would move it closer to to the front wing which as it is I cant close the door anyway
It's taken me ages to find a door the right colour too

Washers between the hinge and the bodywork will push the door back.
Re: fitting doors
Don't know what you mean there? The only place to put washers is between the bracket on the body and the hinge flange, the hinge sits forward of the bracket so like I said the door would move further forward and closer to the wing. Unless you mean somewhere else I'm missing?

Re: fitting doors
According to the manual it should be a five step job with a little adjustment IF required.

There is not really a lot of help in the manual.
It could be that yours sits a little bit different from the car the other was taken from and will require a bit of tweeking.
Good Luck.

cheers, yeah I wasn't bowled over by the haynes this afternoon when I read that either!
Gone with trying to turn the hinge round as its offset like Nate said, got one done but had to give up as the door is in the conservatory and it makes a right racket trying to get them to budge!

Re: fitting doors
Totally agree about the manual, on some jobs it is very poor.
I think it's just a bit of tweeking you need.
I don't know if any of our more learned members know of any differences in the doors.
Good Luck.

Success!
The pins were a right pain in the backside but flipping the hinges round did the trick and it fits really well now.
