I'm sorely tempted to try to buy it, even though I don't have any chance of restoring it myself. Maybe I could just stash it away until I can afford to get someone else to do it. Decisions, decisions...

Mixed thoughts on that one Ed - quite a tatty car now, with lots of work required to make good. BUT A MK1 with no sunroof is as rare as Hens teeth and would look really clean when restored. Financially, so long as the auction doesn't rise too high, well worth storing for the roof alone.

Re: My old ancona blue mk1
I let the auction run, it went for more than I could justify for it anyway (it's in a worse state than when I had it, and I also had a full set of wings/doors etc in perfect condition). I expect it will be broken, but you never know...

I expect it will be broken, especially if it is sans the mint panels now. Anyone know who bought it? I could do with that interior if it is for breaking.

Hey thats my old blue Mk1 - I had her from 1996-2008 Looks well past it now. a shame it was at 80000 miles when I sold to Ed - who said he'd fix it up
Knowing the car its not as bad as it looks though. Engine is mint. Some new panels lowered new paint & Borbet A's and you're done!
Cheers - Rob.

And new inner and outer sills, front inner wings, windscreen surround/A-pillar repairs. No doubt plenty more besides, without even thinking about the mechanical stuff. It needs a full restoration, not a quick patch-up. I'm afraid I realised that I don't have the time to commit to that scale of project.
