How hard is this interior to find?

Post by clarksworth »

:newbie:

Hi all, first post, hope this is the right place for it. I was at the NEC classic car show today and I spotted this amazingly tidy rocco with this reddish brown patterned interior (sorry about the crappy photos):

I really liked this, I know it's a bit 70s but I thought it was kinda cool. I also like the little recessed tray in the parcel shelf that my car doesn't have. How hard would the parts for this interior be to find, and could I transplant them into my GTX? (photos below). I've looked in the classifieds section here a few times over the last couple of months and not seen anything like it so I'm guessing it's pretty rare?

Cheers!

it's the 82 gti interior - only ran for that first year of the mk2 and tbh almost impossible to find in good nick these days.

I'm glad you like my interior... hands off!

What Sean says is true, you'll be highly unlikely to find this pattern going spare - and if you do, it'll probably be quite worn.

Scalas of around '88/'89 had a red seat cloth (but different pattern) and might be slightly easier to find, but probably the same trouble with general wear and tear.

All the seats in mk.2 Sciroccos have the same subframe and are transplantable from one car to another.

It is very hard to even get some of that seat material because I really wanted to re-trim mine with the same material as it has faded. So months of searching I have found something what is fairly close to the pattern. I just really hope it does work though and it won't look so out of place. Hopefully in a years time everyone could see the seats all nicely re-trimed.

i have this pattern in my 82 gt. also there is a complete set of these in black for sale on german ebay at the moment for 100 euro i think, but the shipping might be a bit pricey

remember, if it's got tit's or tyre's, sooner or later it's gonna give you trouble.
