Rattles from the boot
I have searched for this but didn't find an answer. My boot rattles a lot and it's a lot worse without the parcel shelf. Any ideas where these rattles come from and how to fix them? Thanks.

Re: Rattles from the boot
I get this a lot - I think it's to do with the rear seats being a bit loose on mine (the rivets holding the central plate in have snapped), but there are also rattly noises from the rear light bulb housing (just held in with plastic clips - worth putting some tape around them to make them more secure), the rear washer bottle (wrap it with bubble wrap or some soundproofing material), the toolkit on top of the spare wheel (should have rubber straps securing it, but they can perish and get loose), the spoiler may be loose... etc, etc, etc! It could even be that the rear beam bushes are starting to perish, causing a bit of noise there.
Lots to check, but just go through the likely suspects one by one and eventually you'll cure it.

Re: Rattles from the boot
A few more to check:
Bushes at the top of the rear shocks... check you can't wobble the shocks around!
The boot catch itself. (plate on the car - not in the llid)... easy to knock these as you're putting big stuff in the boot... so check the tailgate doesn't rattle in the catch when it's closed.
Rear speakers vibrating against the 'shelf supports.
Numberplate plinth against the back of the car.
