Cup holders..?

Post by jimmyconway »

If there's one thing that grinds my gears about old cars it's the lack of cup holder/s.

I've seen the plastic ones on egay that clip onto the air vent.
Anyone here got one in their rocco?

It's gonna be a good summer.

Speak to Tony (Mazallan), he had homemade ones in his BBS GTi, looked a great job as well.

I fitted them where the stereo goes, then fitted the stereo in place of the ashtray 'din e' size so a perfect fit , and with 2 pop out cup holders. It was from either a polo or golf. Sold it a few weeks ago complete in console.

Tony, could you do a step by set guide. If I remember that dash had cup holders, VDO, stereo ect. Couldn't see the button to activate Kit or the turbo boost but it looked Bloody awesome. Any advice of how to replicate something similar would be greatly appreciated. I'm not after an all singing panel but yours was very tastefully done. For example what the hell is a din e, educate me!!

Din is a standardisation code, most stereos are din and that is what Tony is referring to. :geek:

I was going to do this with a Leon single cup holder, how do you get around the problem of your drink being in the same place as 1st gear?
I ended up lifting the front edge of the rear seats and shoving the holder under there, which is solid enough but doesn't look fantastic

well as mine doesnt come out far enough, and i dont use the car at the moment it isnt too bad,

but i can see what you mean. in my other rocco i just jam bottles down inbetween the seat and the door, just infront of where the seatbelt bolts down

not really much to do for a step by step guide, just cut the ashtray out as you would to fit he triple gauge panel, obviously you would need the same cup holders as i had (two holders with a small cubby hole above), also i had a quick shift gear linkage so there was no problem with the gearknob hitting the holders when they were open.

This is the only pic i can find

cheers
