Problem waiting to happen?

So I've just got the Mk1 Scirocco on the road (see MOT after 12 years)and this is a photo of the throttle return spring, Webber carb, its worn a hole. So any ideas what I can do?

Drill a new hole further down the arm, then give webcon a ring to see if they do a spare?

or make up a little plate to mount the spring to that attaches via the bolt just below the hole. or just ignore it for the time being. it's gonna take a while to wear all the way thru

I will hopefully have the piece on my busted weber that I keep for spares....its in the boot of the GLS which will be at the national next week?
